What does it mean today to talk about sustainability in architecture? In this video interview, recorded at nuars studio, the conversation explores their understanding of design as a process: from the reuse of materials to the construction of a coherent architectural language capable of holding together research and practice.

Founded in Zurich in 2024 by Adrian Kiesel, Guido Brandi, Stefan Hausherr, Marco Guerra, and Iso Tambornino, nuar brings together diverse educational backgrounds and an experimental approach attentive to issues of circularity and reuse. Alongside their professional practice, the studios members are active in teaching and academic research, engaging in an ongoing dialogue between design and critical reflection.

In the video, the founders explain how sustainability, for them, does not take the form of a single formula, but rather emerges through a process shaped by choices, compromises, and the willingness to take risks. Starting from the project for the vocational school in Bülach, which won the competition in 2025, the conversation touches on themes such as the reuse of metal elements, the relationship with the existing fabric, and the effort to build an architectural approach that connects technical decisions with memory and identity.

The video presents a selected part of the original conversation. Additional passages, reflections, and references from the interview are developed further in the full article published in the first issue of Espazium Quaderni, to be released on January 12, 2026.
